Welcome to my website

I am passionate about resilient and sustainable agriculture and land-use systems. I study these by levering on my interdisciplinary knowledge in the fields of data -and geospatial sciences and agroecology. Through holistic systems-thinking I hope to contribute to a better world for people and planet. I am an enthusiastic advocate for agroforestry as an integrated and resilient practice. Currently, I am expanding my knowledge in spatial (data) analysis in R to better understand the spatial, temporal and phenological benefits of agroforestry in relation to the associated crops. I use my experience from working with farmers and agricultural researchers, on multiple aspects of regenerative agroecology, to understand the complex social and economic aspects of agroforestry.

Current activities

Currently I am working as a scientific GIS officer at the Danish Agricultural Agency (Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries). I work in Team Satellite & GIS under the division Agricultural Support & Geodata. Here I work in the project called “New Regulation Model, with the development of new tools that ensure better monitoring and regulation of Danish agriculture – to the benefit of both the climate, nature, and farmers. Specifically, I work with new maps and GIS analysis, which will support more farm/field-specific calculations of the climate and environmental impacts of agriculture.

Details about my acedemic education

MSc Major Plant Sciences (Crop Science): The Plant Sciences programme at WUR is internationally recognised. The programme has been designed to help meet the worldwide demand for scientific expertise in the development of plant and crop production and farming systems. It not only covers the technological aspects of crop production, but also deals with important environmental, quality, health and socio-economic aspects. Interdisciplinarity is a hallmark of the programme. Through various courses and real-life academic education, we get trainings on applying systems approaches that crucially integrates disciplinary knowledge to study plant production at various integration levels (plant, crop, farm, region). This requires sound understanding of the basic physical, chemical and physiological aspects of crop growth and production. Modelling and simulation are used to analyse and map yield constraints and improve production efficiency.

MSc Minor in Geo-Information Sciences: The skills I’ve gained through the MSc Minor in Geo-Information Sciences gives me a solid understanding of applying key geo-information tools in the researh and development of agro-ecosystems for the benefit of production and society. Tools in Geo-information Sciences (GIS) provides indispensable opportunities for domains like spatial planning, agriculture, water management, nature conservation, environmental management, energy supply, disaster management, traffic and safety, etc. We are especially trained in applying combined use of earth observation techniques (Remote Sensing) and GIS for problem solving within the environmental, agricultural and social disciplines. We do this through modern computer software e.g. AcGIS, R and Python.

BSc in Natural Resources: This programme is a modern agronomy education that teaches strong scientific approaches within a social science perspective. We get trained in working in the interdisciplinary fields related to; plants, environmental legislation, ecology, biodiversity, economics and sustainability. The focus of the specialisation “Plant Science” is on the processes that form the basis for plant growth and plant production. Issues such as, how to deal with the biological, physical and chemical processes of plants? By learning to apply state-of-the-art knowledge on soil and climate factors, we are trained to research and solve complex problems in the field of sustainable production, consulting, breeding, research, teaching or industrial purposes. Hence, throughout the programme, there is a strong emphasis on; climate, resource utilization, soil, quality of plant-based raw materials and the ethical discussions about, for example, genetically modified plants.
